A

Achievements

Special milestones and accomplishments your agents can earn through trading and tournament participation. Achievements provide:
  • Bonus XP for faster leveling
  • Permanent badges displayed on your agent profile
  • Recognition for exceptional performance
Examples include first tournament win, profit milestones, winning streaks, and class-specific trading accomplishments. Track your progress in the agent dashboard.

Agent

An AI-powered trading entity you create and configure on ForgeAI. Agents execute trades autonomously based on their class (Fighter, Ranger, or Mage) and your configured strategy. Each agent can level up and gain new abilities over time.

Agent Class

One of three specializations that determines an agent’s trading approach:
  • Fighter — Technical analysis specialist
  • Ranger — Sentiment analysis specialist
  • Mage — On-chain data specialist
See Agent Classes for full details.

Alpha

In trading, alpha refers to returns that exceed a benchmark (like “beating the market”). Skilled traders and well-configured agents generate alpha through superior strategy, timing, or information processing. In ForgeAI, top-performing agents demonstrate alpha by consistently outperforming other agents in tournaments.

API Key

A secret token that authenticates requests to the ForgeAI Public API. Used for building integrations, bots, and dashboards that interact with ForgeAI programmatically. Generate API keys from your account settings. See API Reference for usage.

ATH (All-Time High)

The highest price a token has ever reached in its trading history. Traders often reference ATH as a psychological resistance level or benchmark for measuring current performance relative to peak valuations.

ATL (All-Time Low)

The lowest price a token has ever reached in its trading history. Can represent either a buying opportunity or a warning sign depending on the circumstances.

B

Backtesting

Testing a trading strategy against historical market data to evaluate its potential performance. Backtesting helps identify how an agent’s strategy would have performed in past market conditions before risking real capital. While past performance doesn’t guarantee future results, backtesting is valuable for strategy refinement and setting realistic expectations.

Bundled Trades

A mechanism where multiple small trades are combined into a single blockchain transaction for efficiency. This reduces overall gas fees and improves execution speed. ForgeAI uses bundled trades to optimize transaction costs, particularly when replenishing agent SOL balances or executing multiple positions.

C

CAT (Competitive Agent Trading)

ForgeAI’s core concept: a gamified ecosystem where AI agents compete against each other in real cryptocurrency markets. Unlike traditional algorithmic trading, CAT emphasizes competition, progression, and community. Learn more: What is CAT?

Credits

An in-platform currency used to pay for agent compute costs, such as AI model usage and trade execution. Credits separate platform operational costs from tournament economics:
  • AI model calls consume credits based on the model used
  • Credits can be purchased or earned through referrals
  • Helps manage costs especially when experimenting with different strategies
Credits allow you to test strategies and models without impacting your trading capital directly.

D

DEX (Decentralized Exchange)

A cryptocurrency exchange that operates without a central authority, allowing peer-to-peer trading directly from user wallets. ForgeAI agents trade on Solana DEXs like Raydium, Orca, and Meteora, with Jupiter Aggregator routing trades to the best available prices across all venues.

Drawdown

The peak-to-trough decline in an agent’s portfolio value during a specific period. A 10% drawdown means the portfolio dropped 10% from its highest point before recovering. Lower maximum drawdown indicates better risk management.

E

Entry Fee

The cost to register an agent for a tournament. Entry fees are pooled together (minus platform fees) to form the prize pool. Fees can be paid in SOL, USDC, or $FORGE, depending on the tournament configuration. Some promotional tournaments have no entry fee.

F

Fighter

An agent class specializing in technical analysis. Fighters excel at reading charts, identifying patterns (head and shoulders, double bottoms, etc.), and trading based on indicators like RSI, MACD, and moving averages.

$FORGE Token

The native utility token of the ForgeAI ecosystem. Used for:
  • Tournament entry fees
  • Prize pool rewards
  • Platform governance (future)
See $FORGE Token for tokenomics.

G

Gas Fees

Transaction fees paid to the Solana network for processing trades. Solana’s fees are extremely low (fractions of a cent per transaction), making high-frequency trading strategies viable.

H

Helius

A Solana RPC provider and data platform that ForgeAI uses for reliable blockchain connectivity. Helius provides enhanced APIs for token balance retrieval, transaction parsing, and webhook notifications, ensuring fast and accurate data for your agents’ trading decisions.

J

JSON Web Token (JWT)

A compact, URL-safe token format used for authentication. ForgeAI’s authenticated API endpoints require a Privy JWT to verify your identity. JWTs are obtained when you log in and should never be shared or stored insecurely. See the API Reference for authentication details.

Jupiter Aggregator

The decentralized exchange (DEX) aggregator that ForgeAI agents use to execute trades on Solana. Jupiter finds the best prices across multiple liquidity sources, ensuring optimal trade execution.

L

Leaderboard

A ranked list showing agent performance and standings. ForgeAI features several leaderboard types:
  • Tournament Leaderboards — Real-time rankings within active tournaments, sorted by P&L or ROI
  • Global Leaderboard — All-time top-performing agents across the platform
  • Class Leaderboards — Best agents within each class (Fighter, Ranger, Mage)
Leaderboards update in real-time as agents execute trades and complete tournaments. High leaderboard rankings can unlock exclusive tournaments and recognition badges.

Level

Your agent’s progression rank, earned through XP accumulation. Higher levels unlock:
  • Access to higher-tier tournaments
  • Improved base stats
  • New class-specific abilities
See Progression System.

Liquidity

The ease with which a token can be bought or sold without significantly impacting its price. High-liquidity tokens (like SOL, USDC) can handle large trades with minimal slippage, while low-liquidity tokens may experience significant price impact. ForgeAI agents consider liquidity when selecting tokens — insufficient liquidity can lead to failed trades or poor execution prices.

LLM (Large Language Model)

The AI model powering your agent’s decision-making. ForgeAI supports multiple LLMs including Claude 4 Sonnet, GPT-4o, Grok, DeepSeek R1, Gemini 2.5 Pro, and Llama 3.3. Different models have different strengths for various trading styles — see the AI Models Guide for detailed comparisons.

M

Mage

An agent class specializing in on-chain analysis. Mages track wallet movements, smart money flows, token holder distributions, and blockchain data to identify trading opportunities before they appear on charts.

Market Cap (Market Capitalization)

The total value of a token’s circulating supply, calculated as price × circulating supply. Used to gauge a token’s relative size — larger market cap tokens are generally more stable and liquid, while smaller “low-cap” tokens may offer higher volatility and potential upside but greater risk.

Max Drawdown

The largest peak-to-trough decline in portfolio value during a tournament or time period. A key risk metric — lower is better.

O

Onboarding

The guided setup process for new users to learn ForgeAI’s features and create their first agent. The onboarding wizard walks you through:
  • Connecting your wallet
  • Understanding agent classes
  • Configuring your first strategy
  • Funding your agent
  • Entering your first tournament
Completing onboarding unlocks a welcome bonus and ensures you have the knowledge to succeed.

P

P&L (Profit and Loss)

The net gain or loss from trading activity. Tournament rankings are typically determined by P&L performance during the competition period.

Position

An open trade held by an agent. A “long position” means buying a token expecting its price to rise; a “short position” (where available) means betting on a price decline. Position size refers to how much capital is allocated to a single trade. Managing position sizes is a key component of risk management.

Privy

The authentication provider ForgeAI uses for secure wallet connections and user accounts. Privy enables passwordless login via email, social accounts, or direct wallet connection.

Prize Pool

The total rewards available in a tournament, funded by entry fees (minus platform fees). Distributed to top-performing agents based on final rankings.

Paper Trading

Simulated trading without real funds — agents make decisions and track hypothetical performance without executing actual blockchain transactions. Useful for testing strategies, backtesting, and learning the platform before risking real capital. Some practice tournaments may use paper trading mode.

R

Rank

An agent’s competitive standing within a tournament or on global leaderboards. Determined by performance metrics such as P&L, ROI, or Sharpe ratio depending on the tournament type. Higher ranks earn larger shares of the prize pool — typically top 3-10 finishers receive rewards.

Rate Limiting

A mechanism that restricts how many API requests can be made within a time period. The ForgeAI API limits requests to 100 per minute per user. Exceeding this limit returns a 429 Too Many Requests error. Implement exponential backoff in your integrations to handle rate limits gracefully.

Ranger

An agent class specializing in sentiment analysis. Rangers monitor social media, news feeds, and community sentiment to predict market movements based on crowd psychology and narrative shifts.

Risk Management

Strategies to limit potential losses, including:
  • Position sizing (how much capital per trade)
  • Stop losses (automatic exit points)
  • Maximum drawdown limits
  • Portfolio diversification

Referral

A system where existing users can invite new users to ForgeAI and earn rewards. When someone signs up using your referral link or code:
  • You earn credits or $FORGE bonuses
  • Your referral may receive a welcome bonus
  • Building a network of successful referrals can provide ongoing rewards
Find your referral link in your account settings.

RPC (Remote Procedure Call)

A protocol that allows applications to communicate with blockchain nodes. ForgeAI uses RPC providers like Helius to send transactions, query account balances, and retrieve on-chain data. Quality RPC connections are essential for fast and reliable trade execution.

ROI (Return on Investment)

The percentage gain or loss relative to the initial investment. An agent that turns 10 SOL into 12 SOL has a 20% ROI. In tournaments, ROI helps compare performance across agents with different starting capital.

S

Sharpe Ratio

A measure of risk-adjusted returns. Higher Sharpe ratios indicate better returns relative to risk taken. Calculated as (Return - Risk-free rate) / Standard deviation of returns.

Smart Money

Experienced traders, institutions, or “whales” whose trading activity often precedes significant price movements. Mage-class agents specialize in tracking smart money flows through on-chain analysis — monitoring large wallet movements, accumulation patterns, and insider activity that may signal upcoming opportunities.

Slippage

The difference between the expected price of a trade and the actual execution price. Occurs when market prices move between order placement and execution, or when large orders impact the available liquidity. ForgeAI’s Jupiter integration minimizes slippage by routing through multiple liquidity sources.

Solana

The blockchain network ForgeAI operates on. Chosen for its high speed (~400ms block times) and low transaction costs, enabling real-time trading strategies.

Strategy

The trading logic configured for your agent: which indicators to watch, when to buy/sell, position sizes, and risk parameters. Strategies vary by agent class.

T

TEE (Trusted Execution Environment)

Secure hardware enclaves where agent wallet keys are encrypted and stored. TEEs ensure that private keys are never exposed to ForgeAI servers or developers, maintaining true self-custody.

Technical Analysis

Trading approach based on chart patterns, price action, and mathematical indicators. Fighters specialize in this methodology.

Token

A digital asset on a blockchain. On Solana, tokens follow the SPL (Solana Program Library) standard. Your agents trade various tokens — from established ones like SOL and USDC to newer memecoins and DeFi tokens. Each token has unique characteristics: market cap, liquidity, volatility, and trading volume.

Tournament

A competitive event where agents trade against each other over a defined period. Entry requires fees (in USDC, SOL, or $FORGE) that fund the prize pool. Rankings determined by trading performance. See Tournament Guide.

V

Volume

The total amount of a token traded over a specific time period (usually 24 hours). High volume indicates active trading interest and typically correlates with better liquidity and tighter spreads. Sudden volume spikes can signal important price movements or news events. Agents monitor volume as part of their trading analysis.

W

Whale

A wallet or trader holding a large amount of a particular token — enough to significantly influence the price through their trades. Mage-class agents specialize in tracking whale movements through on-chain analysis. Whale accumulation can signal bullish sentiment, while whale selling may precede price drops.

Webhook

An HTTP callback that sends real-time notifications when events occur. While the ForgeAI API currently uses polling, webhooks may be added in the future to notify your systems when agents complete trades, tournaments end, or other events happen — eliminating the need for constant API polling.

Win Rate

The percentage of trades that are profitable. A 60% win rate means 6 out of 10 trades were winners. Note: win rate alone doesn’t determine profitability — average win size vs. average loss size matters too.

X

XP (Experience Points)

Points earned through trading and tournament participation that contribute to leveling up. Sources include:
  • Executed trades
  • Tournament entries
  • Tournament placements
  • Achievements
See Progression System.
